Supported Tenants
Innisfree currently has a number of different Supporting People (SP) contracts to provide support in Brent & Ealing. We have two shared supported houses in Ealing and five shared supported houses and a sheltered scheme, Clochar Court, in Brent. In addition we provide a floating support service to a range of clients in Brent.
All these services have achieved high service standards and tenant satisfaction with some outstanding results from borough reviews. For this vulnerable client group, it really matters that we are an Irish association. We know that all local authorities are trying to save money on their SP services. We hope that the importance of culturally specific services will not be ignored during this cost-cutting exercise.

Tim Ryan has lived in one of our supported house for five years. He moved here after many unsettled years renting in the private rented sector, often having to leave at short notice.
Moving to a settled and secure environment has enabled Tim to address his support needs as well as preparing to live independently. He engaged extremely well with the support service and took an active role in the house. As a keen gardener, he has maintained the communal garden at the house and has entered our gardening competition two years running. He won a prize for best communal garden last year and was overall winner this year.
Tim also volunteers at a local allotment where he has his own patch of fruit and vegetables. Innisfree staff have been lucky enough to sample the wonderful strawberries, plums, apples and potatoes that he has grown. We have just offered Tim a permanent, one bedroom flat with garden within our own stock. He's now waiting to move in and is busy planning his new garden.

Self-confessed novice gardener, Gerald Hennigan was thrilled to find a replica of the famous statue of Padraig o Conaire in a local skip. The famous Galway poet is well-loved by the Irish community.

Innisfree staff held this year's Learning at Work Day at Clochar Court in Harlesden. They helped with gardening and decorating and, in turn, were instructed by the residents in the fine arts of knitting, embroidery and the making of soda bread. A brilliant exercise in mutual support!

Tom O'Brien looks after the garden on behalf of all the residents at Charterhouse Avenue in Sunbury. Vegetables grow happily alongside shrubs in this beautiful, shared garden. This won the award for the most imaginative entry.
"I have been supporting Innisfree and its tenants for many years and share their belief in the importance of growing plants and vegetables. I have visited some of these gardens many times and I am always bowled over by the achievements of the tenants, often with little money. They and Innisfree are to be congratulated." Kina Lady Avebury

Another gardening award was won by supported tenants, Theresa Byrne, James Jones & Jim McNamara. They won the prize for the best team effort, having worked together to create order and beauty from chaos. Kina, Lady Avebury – long-standing judge of Innisfree's gardening competition – was impressed with all that had been achieved.

Liam Murtagh has been an Innisfree tenant for 15 years. He lived for six years in one of our shared houses and has had his own permanent tenancy since 2000. A regular visitor to the office, Liam receives floating support to help maintain his tenancy. He enjoys living in his flat and finds his neighbours are kind and Innisfree staff very helpful.
